WWDC begins today, with a spatial audio "Special Event" immediately after

Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference kicks off today at 10 a.m. Pacific, a software focused event with the intention of informing and motivating developers to create and update their software for Apple's newest operating systems. WWDC is where the next versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS are announced, as well as the occasional new hardware announcement. WWDC has brought about the announcements of the updated Mac Pro in 2019, as well as the iMac Pro and HomePod in 2017.

Some of the rumored points of this year's WWDC keynote are the announcements of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, watchOS 8, and MacOS 12 (possibly named Monterrey or Mammoth). iMessage, notifications, and privacy are likely going the be main software focuses for the event this year. There is also a rumored "M1X"chip that will first appear in the possibly redesigned MacBook Pros today. This Pro focused chip will be a more performance oriented SoC. According to @Shahzeb68290652 (twitter: https://twitter.com/Shahzeb68290652 ), the M1X chip will feature a 10 core CPU, with 8 performance cores and 2 efficiency cores. The original M1chip has an 8 CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The GPU in the M1X will likely feature 16 or 32 gpu cores. The SoC will also have higher RAM options with 16gb as the base, and 32gb and 64gb as upgrades. With Apple silicon's memory being integrated into the SoC, 64 gigs would be an absurdly powerful option!

After the WWDC keynote, which has previously been around 2 hours, a "Special Event" about Spatial Audio's implementation in Apple Music will take place. Apple announced last month that spatial audio and lossless would come to Apple Music, and this special event will provide more details about those new features coming to apple music.

In conclusion, WWDC this year should have lots of exiting announcements, and at the very least feature some Craig Federighi. @DylanMcD8 ( https://twitter.com/DylanMcD8 ) created a WWDC bingo sheet that will be interesting to follow along with to see how many of the expected moments actually occur during the event. It can be found here: https://twitter.com/DylanMcD8/status/1401324715277488135

Stay tuned to Pushing Horizons as we cover the announcements and provide insight on what Apple brings.
